Art is the only way that the world makes sense to me and the only way that I make sense in the world. Art is a visual representation of something larger than the object itself. Art provides an opportunity to engage with people in any way they wish and will morph into anything for anybody thus being fluid and solid. Art is a dichotomy and a singular clear object and idea, it is ordinary yet unique, it provides questions and then provides the answers, and then it may also provide no answers, it is simple yet complicated; much as the experience of being human. My artwork is an exploration of these concepts and my experience of interpreting them and transforming them into works of art. My artwork is deeply personal, yet; part of a larger conversation about the greater experience of being human.
I usually begin with something from a personal emotion, memory, thought or experience. Then I begin to link and connect it to others.
We are all born, live and die, and along the journey we go through countless experiences that are love, pain, horror, joy… etc. My artwork attempts to capture some of these experiences in a visual format, which then tries to convey the personal yet universal reality of these moments. Life is complicated yet simple like art it is a mirror we can choose to gaze in to or to turn away from.
